Maria Dorothea Schrattenholz er født i Bergen i 1980. Hun debuterte i 2015 med diktsamlingen Atlaspunkt. For denne ble hun nominert til Tarjei Vesaas’ Debutantpris. Protosjel er hennes andre bok.

Maria Dorothea Schrattenholz ble i dag tildelt Bokhandelens forfatterstipend 2022 for diktsamlingen Protosjel. Schrattenholz mottok hovedstipendet på 200.000 kroner. Tildelingen fant sted på Norsk Litteraturfestival på Lillehammer.
